Interior Design Ideas

Redecorating your house isn’t all that easy and it becomes even less so when you become stuck for ideas. The only way to really get over this hiatus in interior design ideas is to sit back, put your feet up and have some coffee. I’m not kidding, there’s really no substitute for getting a fresh perspective on things, like taking a break from everything. In the first place you become more relaxed, and in the second place a steaming cup of coffee (or tea) is always welcome.

Now that you’re sitting down comfortably and are suitably relaxed, close your eyes and envision the room that you want to redecorate. Even if you are doing more than one room, it’s always a good idea to start with one room first working your way logically through to the next one and then the next one. Also, before you start on your journey through the land of interior design ideas, keep a notebook and pencil at hand so that you can jot down any inspirational ideas you have before you forget them.

So just sit back and picture the room in your mind. Try and see it as you would like it to look. And if that’s too hard, then try firstly to replace separate bits and pieces. This is always a good way to work. If you’ve still got a mental drought on interior design ideas, then try to leaf through some interior design catalogs beforehand so that you have at least a working idea of what you can do to change the room.

The interior design catalogs need not be anything more impressive than your local department store catalog, turned to the home furnishing section. Then again, these days you also get specialist stores which cater solely to the art of redecorating your home. If you have the time a quick run down to one of these might also help to end the dearth on interior design ideas, and can possibly help to get you kick started.

These stores will have staged sets of many designs, giving you a good idea of what your room can look like. If you’re going to one of these places though go prepared to shell out some cash as no matter how tight a hand you keep on your pocket you’ll always find something you want to buy. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but unless you watch out you could end up buying out the store. And without a proper idea of what you want the room to look like, this can prove to be disastrous.
Redecorating or renovating your house is never easy, and it gets especially harder and more tedious when you need to paint as well. Slapping on one coat of paint after another can be draining if you’re going it alone and still have the whole house to consider. And let’s not even start on the ceilings! But even if you stick to the same old staid exterior paint job it doesn’t need to be so for the interior and you could always try some wild and wonderful interior painting ideas. If nothing else you’ll be guaranteed a reaction from all who enter your house.

By keeping the exterior painting to a bare necessary minimum, you can spend more time and more creativity inside. You can let your imagination run riot with all those interior painting ideas you always wanted to implement but never got around to. There’s no time like the present, and really, when are you going to paint your house again? If you stick to the drab and uninspired you can be assured that it won’t be at least for a few more generations.

Don’t get alarmed though, when I’m talking about out of this world interior painting ideas I’m not saying that you should go with something that might resemble a Picasso painting. I’m talking about something more along the lines of a paint job that will resemble you and reflect back who you are. So your interior painting ideas need not be anything bolder than a splash of vibrant color on one wall surrounded by soothing colors on the other walls.

This works very well in any house and the vibrant color that you pick out can be either soothing or primal depending on what you want to show of yourself. You could of course always go to extremes and paint all the walls a bright vibrant shade or even mix and match different shades to different walls. If you’re doing this then you might want to think about the effect you’ll have and whether you can actually live with the color scheme.

Wild and inspired interior painting ideas are well and good, but you should always take into account whether you’re going to be able stand the sight of your newly panted walls or not. If you have to repaint everything it kind of defeats the purpose. This doesn’t mean that you should put a hold on your creativity or stifle your interior painting ideas, all it means is that for some of the bolder ideas you have, that perhaps you should do a small test-run somewhere else.
